Yes we have no bananas
Because bananas don't grow in the UK. We do have whatever is in season, freshly picked, good value and delicious.
We're reading about some supermarkets capping sales of fresh produce. At the moment you won't find tomatoes or cucumbers (come back in warmer weather) but you will find cauliflowers, cabbages, purple sprouting broccoli, plenty of root vegetables and winter leaves. And eggs. No egg shortages here. Find your local farmers market here and support our hard working farmers. If you'd like to read more, here's an excellent piece on shortages by Sustain.

Rain, rain, go away.
Traditionally the month of May brings the sunshine and not the showers. Someone should tell it! We still have a lot of rain in the forecasts and farmers in parts of the country are struggling to harvest waterlogged fields.
No shortage of fresh veg at the markets though from crisp greens and radishes to sweet spring onions and asparagus. Be sure to get your hands on some new season strawberries as they start to make an appearance - there's nothing quite like their unbeatable flavour and aroma.
