Farmers Market Monthly Competition
Competition - 🎃 Win a Spooktacular Halloween Hamper!
This October, we’re celebrating the spooky season with a special London Farmers Market Halloween competition! One lucky winner will take home a hamper brimming with the best autumn produce from our market traders, think crisp apples, rich squashes, warming root vegetables, and a few sweet seasonal surprises. It’s our way of saying thank you for supporting local farmers and food makers as we head into the cosiest time of the year.
Halloween’s roots stretch back over 2,000 years to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people marked the end of the harvest and the beginning of the darker half of the year. Many familiar traditions, from carving pumpkins to dressing up have evolved from these early celebrations. Even the classic game of apple bobbing has its origins in history: in Roman times, apples were associated with Pomona, the goddess of fruit and fertility. Young people would try to bite apples floating in water to predict future romance and good fortune — a tradition that’s floated happily through the centuries into today’s Halloween fun.
As the markets fill with the flavours of autumn, from crisp apples to warming curries and freshly baked breads — this giveaway is our way of saying thank you for supporting local producers and seasonal food. So grab your market bag, sip something delicious, and savour the best of what October has to offer — from orchard to vineyard and everything in between.
