Late summer treats
Now is the time for fruits, squashes, tomatoes...
The transition from summer to autumn is underway and brings with it a rich harvest of orchard and soft fruits.
Cherries are still available from some stalls, don't miss the last of what has been a truly exceptional season. Late-summer berries like blackberries and raspberries are still available.
Plums, greengages and other soft orchard fruits are coming to their peak.
The 2025 apple & pear harvests are in full swing, with growers having an exceptional season in quantity and quality. Despite a dry growing season earlier in the year, the crops have not suffered; apples this year have notably sweeter flavours than last year thanks to the recent warm, sunny weather.
All-in-all a special time for fruits but look out too for new potatoes, there is nothing like the flavour of new season potatoes. Look out too for the huge variety of tomatoes that is on offer at market at the moment.
This September & October as we move towards shorter days and cooler temperatures enjoy hearty stews and fruit crumbles made fresh with ingredients from your local Farmers Market.
