Kentish Saffron is a small, recently established, family run business. Initially planting saffron corms in 2018 on their farm near Herne Bay in Kent, they have continued to expand their saffron crop.
They do not use chemical herbicides or pesticides on their saffron crop. Many hours are spent manually removing weeds and their crops are fed through the spreading of organic fertilisers enabling them to produce the highest quality saffron.
During the short harvesting season saffron is hand picked every morning. Only the red parts of Saffron Stigma are included, with all yellow styles cut and removed during processing. To ensure it is of the finest quality, the saffron is separated, dried and packaged on the same day of picking. After harvest it is independently tested to international standards. Their October 2021 Harvest achieved Grade I classification with an exceptional colouring strength.
