Angelika von Heimendahl established her herd of Anglian Red Poll cattle when she took on the grazing of Midsummer Common in the centre of Cambridge. The herd now also graze Grantchester Meadows, Sheeps Fen and Shepreth Riverwalk along the river Cam. The cattle feed on the meadow grass from April until the end of November or December when they are taken in for the winter.
Red Poll are one of the oldest Anglian breeds. The cattle are matured slowly and the meat is hung for a minimum of three weeks. This results in a fantastic quality product, beautiful, dark, well-marbled and flavoursome beef which you will not want to miss.
